Op 10 april heeft de FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) de aanvraag van Porsche om als constructeur te worden toegelaten tot het Formule E-kampioenschap, geaccepteerd. Dat betekent dat het fabrieksteam uit Weissach de ontwikkeling van een eigen elektrische aandrijflijn kan voortzetten. Deze wordt in 2019 gehomologeerd. Porsche heeft in juli 2017 aangekondigd dat het van plan was om per eind 2019 deel te nemen aan het zesde seizoen van het wereldkampioenschap voor elektrisch aangedreven formule-auto’s. Het Britse team Panasonic Jaguar Racing onthult vandaag het voorlopige kleurschema voor de Jaguar I-TYPE 3. Deze Gen 2-raceauto is Jaguar’s wapen in het vijfde seizoen van het ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
